Team Vortex is the flagship, student-driven aerospace engineering initiative from VIT Bhopal University, dedicated to pushing the limits of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Aerospace technology. We bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, handling the entire project lifecycle—from intricate CAD modeling and rigorous wind-tunnel testing to final assembly. Actively competing in national and international events like SAE Aero Design, our mission is to cultivate the next generation of aerospace leaders by fostering technical excellence, hands-on R&D, and professional discipline.

A short story about us
The idea of Team Vortex was conceived about a year ago by a small group of passionate engineering students ,who shared a dream of building something that truly flies. What started as brainstorming sessions and experimental sketches has evolved into a structured and ambitious aeromodelling team

Our Departments
Aerodynamics
The Aerodynamics department focuses on designing and refining the aircraft to achieve efficient, stable, and predictable flight performance. From airfoil selection and wing geometry to aerodynamic analysis and performance optimization, the team translates aerodynamic principles into practical design decisions that directly influence the aircraft’s capabilities.
The Avionics & Automation department develops the electronic and control systems that enable the aircraft to operate reliably and intelligently. It brings together sensors, communication systems, power management, flight electronics, and automation to support accurate monitoring, control, and dependable aircraft operation throughout testing and competition.
Avionics & Automation
The Structures & Materials department is responsible for ensuring that the aircraft is strong, lightweight, and capable of withstanding the demands of flight. The team works on structural design, material selection, load analysis, fabrication, and reinforcement, carefully balancing durability and weight to achieve an efficient and reliable airframe.

CAD & CAE
The CAD & CAE department transforms engineering concepts into detailed digital models and validates them through computational analysis. Using 3D modelling, simulations, and engineering analysis, the team evaluates designs before fabrication, identifies potential weaknesses, and helps optimize components for performance, manufacturability, and structural integrity.
Management
The Management department connects the technical work of the team with the planning and execution required to bring the project together. It oversees coordination, scheduling, logistics, documentation, budgeting, procurement, and external communication, ensuring that different departments remain aligned toward a common objective.
Media
The Media department captures and communicates the identity and journey of Team Vortex. Through photography, videography, design, social media, branding, and digital content, the team documents the work behind the aircraft and presents Team Vortex's achievements, engineering culture, and experiences to a wider audience.
