Structures & Materials
Build the Frame
The Structures & Materials department transforms engineering concepts into a physical airframe capable of carrying loads and surviving flight. The team works on structural design, material selection, load analysis, fabrication, reinforcement, and testing, constantly balancing strength, stiffness, durability, and weight. Every component must serve its purpose without adding unnecessary mass, making structural efficiency one of the most important aspects of aircraft development.
Engineer Strength
Members learn how engineering theory translates into physical structures. You will gain experience with materials, structural analysis, load paths, fabrication techniques, testing, and failure prevention while working directly with aircraft components. The department develops a practical understanding of how to design structures that are not only mathematically sound, but also manufacturable, reliable, lightweight, and capable of performing under real-world conditions.
